A Room Fit For A Princess

02/02/19

Within 2 days of moving into the Farmhouse Mr was whisked away on a 3 day business trip and us girls were left to fend for ourselves. What better way to keep busy then to rip us Miss K's bedroom carpet and get decorating!!

I had already eyed up some shades of pink we liked so popped those on the walls so we could decide which would be best. Typically it was the most expensive of them, Farrow & Ball Calamine. I wasn't too keen on the shade chart but on the walls it was a lovely calming shade a pink, not too sickly sweet, more a grownup shade. The carpet had been pre-ordered and a fitting slot booked for the Saturday so getting he room painted before was at the utmost importance!

Rather then faff around backwards and forwards to B&Q I decided to buy the paint online from Farrow & Ball and just swallow hard on the £10 next day delivery, I was after all keen to get the room started in my tight timeframe.

The next day arrived, my tin of paint due between 7am and 6pm, I was in most of the day for work and with only the school run I figured I wouldn't be far.  By 5pm there had been no sign of my delivery so I checked online using the tracking number to see a notification saying ''left at front door''??
Now aside from the fact we were home, we have a gravel driveway ,security lights and two feisty Chihuahuas there was no way my parcel was at the front door. Surprise surprise it wasn't, at either of the doors, nor at the front gate. A call to Fedex to find out what had happened to my parcel?

The next day after Fedex chasing the area manager and delivery driver to turned out he'd left it at 'a farm', not our farm(house) I might add, infact he couldn't say which one but said they'd send him back to retrieve my parcel and redeliver it. I politely declined the redelivery as we'd hit lows of minus 6 degrees the evening before and there was no telling where my parcel of paint had been over night.
Fedex sent it back to Farrow & Ball, who I might add refunded me the very same day (excellent customer services too).

Needless to say I drove an hours round trip to buy the tin of paint I needed and started the mammoth task of painting Miss K's bedroom in record time. It looks gorgeous and her new carpets really do look as fabulous as I'd hoped.
Now we're just waiting on the window fitter to come back with our quote and timescale, then I can get her wall paper ordered and up and rebuild her wardrobe.

These things take time as they say and I feel we've done well in the short time scale we've had so far. The most important thing for us was having K's room done so she felt like it was her special space and I feel we're getting there.
