L'Oreal Infallible 24h Foundation Review

L'Oreal Infallible 24hr Foundation is the latest to join my makeup draw. This foundation is marketed as being a 'High coverage, longwear foundation that hides the appearance of fatigue and blemishes'. The consistency is thick, which I expected from a high coverage foundation. Infallible 24hr comes in 8 shades and even has 'Porcelain' for those with very fair skin. It promises 24 hours of flawless coverage, no transfer, no visible imperfections or shine, no dry-out and no 'mask effect'. The glass bottle has a plastic pump dispenser which keeps everything hygienic and prevents air getting into the foundation, causing it to go off. Everything about this feels expensive and worth the money....however

I don't like to slate a product on my blog but the L'Oreal Infallible 24hr foundation just didn't cut it. I purchased the shade 'Vanilla' which is the next shade up from the lightest, Porcelain (which swatched too light for my skin tone). Everything looked good with my back of the hand swatch and jawline colour match, so I went away happy.

First application - I applied it over my normal Clinique Moisturiser and Stila Primer as I do with every foundation. Application wasn't the smoothest, even with a beauty blender, it just didn't seem to blend well. Once I was happy with the foundation I went onto finish the rest of my makeup. Within 15 minutes the Infallible had sunk into my fine lines and pores as well as clinging onto any dry patches I had; leaving me not so flawless!

An hour later things got worse when I noticed in the mirror I was starting to resemble an Uumpa Lompa; yes ladies the foundation was oxidising and I was looking rather orange!!!  And lets not forget the patchiness, I had odd areas of foundation around my nose, eyebrows, jawline. It was all very hideous I can assure you!!

I have tried this again since my first experience and not applied my moisturiser or primer but I'm still having the same issues. Yes this foundation does transfer (just ask my cream Mango coat) and it does cling to dry skin and only accentuates imperfections.
If anyone in the UK has gotten on well with this foundation in the shade Vanilla I'm more then happy to give it to you. Used twice. Just email me at kiziwoo@gmail.com

  1. Ugh, I can feel your pain. I have (I know this is unfair and totally irrational) grown a deep fear to anything that combines the words "drugstore" & "foundation". I had had so many bad experiences that one day I decided I was never going to buy a drugstore foundation again (that was many many years ago). I then switched to MAC (because I didn't know any better) and the Pro long wear foundation in NC20 oxidised on me so badly I still remember it. The only brands drugstores I would ever consider buying liuqid foundation are Bourjois and Catrice.

    1. Haha I'm growing to feel the same, which is unfortunate for the bank balance ;) I quite like Nars, although I find I'm between two shades, Clinique & YSL never fail x
