St. Tropez Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil

I've not really touched on self tanning products much this year on my website. Possibly because I haven't tried anything new until now. So, basically I found out about the St. Tropez Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil while watching Ally Valentines 'June Favourites' on YouTube - if you don't know of Ally or her YouTube Channel the link is here -https://youtu.be/neg0Y-DSn98 . I decided to add this to my shopping list and I'm so pleased I did!

First impressions overall are good ones. The packaging has a expensive feel to it and unlike its St. Tropez counterparts the bottle is glass rather than plastic. The glass is frosted so you can see inside a beautiful golden glimmering liquid. On the glass the writing is embossed in gold, and the lid is also gold - although my lid doesn't seem to fasten on straight, it's wonky! When you remove the lid you'll find it has a plastic funnel that allows the liquid to drip out rather then pour (which would obviously make a terrible mess!)
The fragrance is unlike any of the previous St. Tropez products, this one has a citrus scent to it. Neroli, Lemongrass and Grapefruit essential oils are used which leads to the lovely non-fake-tan fragrance. These essential oils also improves the skin suppleness and is clinically proven* to help moisturise the skin for upto a week.
St. Tropez Luxe Dry Oil is fairly easy to apply using a tanning mitt, I'll explain why I say 'fairly easy' in a minute. I worked from the feet up, applying the Luxe Dry Oil to my skin in gentle strokes, taking care around the ankles, feet and hands (you don't want tell tale lines there!).  Although the Luxe Dry Oil soaks in faster than the St. Tropez Lotion you don't have to rush application, just work at a gentle pace.
Now when your applying this Luxe Dry Oil you'll immediately notice the guide colour isn't what you'd expect from St. Tropez. Rather than your skin having a muddy colour, you'll notice a lovely golden shimmer - this is your guide! I worked hard to make sure I didn't miss any parts of my body that would be on show, yet when I woke up the following morning and showered I found I'd missed bits of my legs - fail! It wasn't the end of the world as the weather has been a bit cooler here so I've kept them covered but next time I need to really make sure I get every piece of leg coated in the Luxe Dry Oil. That aside, I need to talk about the colour, oh my it is gorgeous! I'm golden and sun kissed after an 8 hour sleep, what more can I girl want! The colour of my skin is now darker than previously but not dark that people would know its from a bottle....it is perfect!

The verdict

* Would I buy the St. Tropez Luxe Dry Oil again - YES without a doubt. My skin feels soft and moisturised, The colour is great and although my legs are patchy I'm very pleased with the result.

* Would I recommend it - Again YES however if you are new to self tanning I would avoid it due to the 'guide color' not being great. New self tanners would be better to use either the St. Tropez Gradual Tan products (or similar). Feeling brave? go for the St. Tropez lotion or mousse, where the guide colour is nice and dark so you'll know immediately if you've missed any bits.

I purchased this from BeautyBay.com and it was reduced to £16.31
